We had a lovely week in this apartment (Aug09) - 2 adults and our 15 year old daughter. A 10 minute walk from the beach and on several bus routes. We found our way about Nice quite easily. It’s also on the bus route from the airport so easy to get to on arrival. Not in the main tourist areas of Nice but close enough. We felt more like proper residents than tourists.

The apartment itself is on the 3rd floor of a very French, 19th centruy (?) building and was very peaceful and comfortable. High ceilings, floor to ceiling windows and furnished simply and comfortably. The air conditioning was great to come back to after walking the streets or lying on the beach in 29-30C.

The apartment didn’t feel like a holiday apartment as it is privately owned. It was more like visiting a friend’s apartment, with homely, personal touches, such as painted pebbles and children’s paintings. Everyting we needed was there, including a good selection of English DVDs and books. We spent several evenings watching films after eating our dinner. Ellie enjoyed the chickflicks.

There are a number of supermarkets and boulangeries for your croissants very near to the apartment block - just remember you have to carry everything up 3 flights of stairs. The main train station is in walking distance as is the beach. There are a number of restaurants in the vicinity. Most had quite similar menus and prices (it’s no longer cheap eating out in France). Unfortunately L’Occidental (recommended by Go-Nice) was closed but we ate at L’oustaou (left out of the aprtment and 200m on right hand side of the Blvd Gambetta). Our favourite restaurant was Le Tapenade in Rue Ste Reparate, in Vieux Nice. The menu was different and though it was busy and right in the touristy area we enjoyed the fish soup and duck.

Favourite things: the flower & veg market in Cours Salaya, Vieux Nice; the beach and the sea; watching boules being played outside the Matisse Museum (we went inside as well); looking at the yachts in Nice harbour and trying to guess how much they cost.

We’d love to come back out of season and see Nice then. Fewer people and not as hot.
